Addiction

We can connect you to one of our experienced psychologists to help you work through addiction.

Addiction

Addiction is a condition in which a person compulsively uses a substance or engages in a behaviour despite detrimental consequences. Addiction may involve substances such as alcohol, inhalants, opioids, cocaine, nicotine, and others, or behaviours such as gambling. There is scientific evidence that addiction to substances and addictive behaviours work very similarly in the brain.

Addictions are often accompanied by or driven by mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. Working with psychologists to address these underlying mental health problems is essential for overcoming addiction.
